NASTY!!! - By Jan Browne

Old man winter has visited us in SE N.C.
once again this year. Just this week,
we have gotten 6 inches of snow in my particular
area, and for downeast N.C. that is a bunch. In
fact at the beach, Surf city and Topsail Beach they
got more than 8", but 15 miles to the South on the coast they
only got slushy ice.

Since I live out in the "swamp area", the Highway Dept
never cleans our public roads, so am socked in here, and
then last night, the ice took over and blocked the signal to
operate my computer on the satellite. Connection finally came back about mid-day this morning.

Haven't moved my car for fear it will spin around in a ditch or road canal from all the ice. So I'll just hunker down, find more good food and enjoy unless I can convince that Special Someone
to come over. Ohhh, that would be a nice cozy experience.
Have a good day all!!!!

    Hi there,

Over here in Australia people all along the east coast are getting cut off by severe flooding.
We are in Southern Tasmania and the serious rain hasn't reached us, however we have severe weather warnings for the next few days. Good weather for snuggling down with someone, or several someones if you like.
    Cheers.
Absolutely, a great time for snuggling.

I heard of the flooding troubles on the news
yesterday. Have experienced much flooding in my area
for years now. Before I retired, as a govt. employee, we
were required to volunteer for Emergency Mgt. during such
occasions. It can be difficult assisting people, and animals
under those circumstances. However, most people think it is not
going to get 'that bad' and wait till the last minute to make
preparations or get out to higher ground and it causes an emergency not only for them but the team of rescue personnel. We have had to use the military rescue, helicopters plucking people off their rooftops after they had retreated to the attic and then had to cut
holes in the roof to get out of the water. Horrible.

Good luck to you and others, but if you or friends and relatives
are to be affected, get out early and don't wait.

The thing is, you all are so accustomed to snow
falls and your city or county has equipment to deal
with it. We have 6" and haven't even seen a truck with the
State Dept. of Transportation to move any of it. Mainly only two
ruts to drive in.

And I too am still hoping for some cuddling while I can't get out.

Sounds like you got a plan for staying inHea,,we wound up with about 2" of snow here,,,,they scraped my road 3 times today.
Oh, I thought you might get by without any
of the white stuff. And what kinda pull do you have
with the DOT that they scraped your road 3 times.
We haven't seen even a DOT truck try to ride our road.
Even the big heavy mug bog trucks are having trouble in
places on our road, and the side gravel road beside my house,
spinning and trying to get traction to move on. It was getting
slushy this afternoon when I walked out to the main road, but it will
refreeze over night. Be safe and dry.
